Animation Spam!

Can you belive... A scene on less then 6 seconds is 133 drawings??? And that's even limited for animation,. I worked limited with this shot (holds, and not fully inbetweened)

Those is just some examples out of 133 drawings. We had an assignment with Sultan from Disneys Aladdin

Interesting screencaps from the year.. // Animation is not always logical

Yes, f*ck those timing charts!

When animating in TvPaint, You often gonna use the Lighttable function. I love it.. Much better then a real light table! Look at the psychedelic colours. And the pattern it makes. Animation fascinates me, at least 2D - You really have to think organic, in arcs, and feel out every pose you draw. (Um thought some of them can be extreme!)

I plan in drawing, in arc, and the movement ahead in 2D this way... Many animators do THUMBNAILS before and, then key poses, after that TIMING CHARTS. I make thumbs, then I plan in drawings.

planning...

Step by Step

Animation! I made an animation shot starring Sultan from Disneys Aladdin How i animate to make the moves work, really rough to start with .. i hate clean up, but this time i managed to make it pretty clean!

See the result; This was our end year-test assignment in school.

Rocky Horror ..

As the stealth geek I am.... I love musicals! Especielly if it is based on horror features from the 40's, 50's and 60's!  I was introduced to this musical by a friend this year. Now It's an favorite, I been animting many times listening to the wunderbar soundtrack! Made on the side of the less interesting school assignments in school

Hey, I have tons of sketches with more characters,... just wait, hehe. B)

Breakfast Time - Mr. Stan

We had a collabration witch the french animator/director school la poundriere. This animation is based on the children book "Mr Stan" and animated during 4 days. I animated the boy and Will in my class the dog, so it's interaction between the characters by two animators. Not really an appealing style for me, but it was nice to try!

Old Animation !

Some old Animation assignments from school I re-post now. Something went wrong with the movie file if you upload directly to Blogger,... so I had to go around it, upload it on YouTube.

I've notices that animation is not really my niche in this industry, even if it's kinda easy by now. I want to create new characters and stories. I rather design stuff, where you do research, take inspiration from history, culture and art!

One of my best assignments I've done is the dialogue-scene that you'll find earlier in the blog, and this one, classic cell-animation Mickey. Non of them are done, We always have new stuff to do in school, even thought I'm thinking of cleaning some of them up in the future.

When drawing animation the classical way on paper it, which is much more time-consuming, but it also gives ythe animation a certain "real" feeling and emotion that I think only the lld cell animated movies have.

I made a parody of all those cool 80s cartoons... Done in aftereffects,. (I did not draw the He-man background, or  He-man!)
